‼️ A 17-year-old student was knocked to his classroom floor, got back up, then was shoved and punched to the floor AGAIN before running from the room.

Minutes later, he went over a fourth-floor railing at his Los Angeles high school and died.

Now, newly reported details from video of Xavier Nungaray’s final minutes are raising even more painful questions for a family that says their son had already endured years of bullying.

According to the Los Angeles Times, video from inside Xavier’s classroom shows him on the floor while another student strikes him.

A teacher intervenes.

Xavier gets back up.

But the Times reports the other student then shoves Xavier and punches him again, knocking him back to the floor.

Xavier gets up and runs from the classroom.

The Times reports the other student yells after him, including a racial slur.

Then comes another video.

According to the Times’ review, Xavier is seen at the fourth-floor railing before the other student approaches.

Moments later, Xavier goes over it.

As I shared yesterday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has officially ruled Xavier’s death a su***de.

But I want to be very careful about what that does and does not tell us.

The ruling does NOT establish that the classroom assault or alleged bullying caused Xavier to take his life.

And police have not announced charges connecting another student to his death.

But imagine being Xavier’s parents and learning exactly what the video reportedly shows in the final minutes of your child’s life.

Your son is knocked down.

He gets back up.

He’s knocked down again.

He runs from the classroom.

And shortly afterward, your 17-year-old is dead.

All while Xavier’s family says he had endured bullying for years and was afraid to report it because he feared HE would be punished.

His family is continuing to demand answers, while an extended family member has launched a petition calling for additional safety measures at Franklin High and across the Los Angeles school district.

There are still important questions investigators and the district need to answer.

But I keep coming back to a 17-year-old getting off that classroom floor and running away.

If another child being bullied sees Xavier’s story and is afraid asking for help will only get THEM in trouble, what do you want that child to hear?

And what would you tell Xavier’s parents as they confront these painful new details about their son’s final minutes?

Maybe something written beneath Xavier’s story reaches another frightened kid before it’s too late.

Volunteers Needed for Our 12th Annual Back to School Bash 💙

It’s almost time for our 12th Annual Back to School Bash, and we need your help to make this day special for the children in our community!

🕑 2:00 PM

Every year, our volunteers are the heart of this event. Because of people willing to give just a few hours of their time, children leave with smiles on their faces, bookbags full of school supplies, free haircuts, clothing, food, and the confidence to start a new school year.

Whether you can help with setup, registration, handing out school supplies, directing families, serving food, supervising activities, or cleanup, your time can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

No special experience is needed—just a willing heart and a desire to serve.
