Senior Spotlight - Steven Wyatt!!
For the past six years, Steven Wyatt has been one of the driving forces behind SAC, leading not only with his performances in the pool, but with his voice, attitude, and work ethic every single day. A senior at Cherryville High School, Steven has become the kind of teammate every coach hopes for: someone who pushes the people around him to be better while holding both himself and his teammates accountable to a high standard. Whether it’s a brutal practice set or a tough race, Steven is almost always the swimmer setting the tone with his effort and determination.
This fall, Steven will continue his swimming and academic career at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, where he plans to major in Accounting with a minor in Photography 📸🏊♂️ His favorite event is the 500 freestyle, which fits perfectly with the grit and toughness he brings to the sport. One of his favorite memories came during the 1000 freestyle, hearing teammates cheer him on through every lap and knowing they were right there beside him. Steven says his favorite part of swimming has always been encouraging teammates and pushing hard at practice, something anyone who has trained with him has seen firsthand.
His advice to younger swimmers is simple but powerful: “You can do anything as long as you put your heart and mind to it.” He also wanted to give a shout out to Coach Tanya, Coach Jordan, his teammates, and especially his mom for all the rides to practice before he got his license. Outside the pool, Steven enjoys running, hiking, traveling, and apparently has some hidden dance skills too 💃 No matter where life takes him next, there’s no doubt Steven’s leadership, work ethic, and competitive spirit will continue making an impact everywhere he goes. 🦈
