Joe Heckert for Sheffield Lake

Joe Heckert for Sheffield Lake My name is Joe Heckert. I love Sheffield Lake. I've been fortunate to call it "home" for over 10 years, and plan to for many more!

I'm here to promote kindness and respect and equip/inform residents so they can engage more in our local government! My name is Joe Heckert, and I am running as a write-in candidate to become the new Sheffield Lake City Council Member representing Ward 1. I absolutely love this community. I am incredibly fortunate that I've been able to call this place "home" for over 10 years now. My wife and I a

re raising 5 kids here. As our kids continue getting older, it just keeps getting more and more clear that Sheffield Lake is the best community to put down roots and build a family. A community as special as Sheffield Lake does not happen by accident. It takes ordinary people who care deeply about the community and the people in it stepping up to continue the work of those that have gone before us to continue to make things better for our present and our future. I am running for City Council because I want to help continue the work of making Sheffield Lake the best community out there!

I don't know why the same group that says ALL the studies need to be done (including traffic studies) before ANY rezoning is approved... Is now saying Harbor Woods development is going to cause so many more traffic accidents, no studies needed just trust me bro!

New Council meeting, same result: Deafening silence.
"I'll ask you again, give you the benefit of the doubt: Did you, in fact, serve in the United States Marines?"

"How much time do I have left, sir?"
"One minute."
"One minute? [To Jon Paul Morrow]: I give you one minute to try to respond. I'm sharing my minute with you."

I have sent the message below to my Council At Large representatives (Gee, Cizl, and Kovach). As Rosa Gee Sheffield Lake Council at large mentioned on her page, it’s *CRITICAL* that residents make their opinions known on these matters outside of social media (e.g. via email, phone calls, council meetings). If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your opinion with your ward representative, the three I sent my email to represent the whole city so they are also good options that can represent you. Here’s my email:

“Good Afternoon,

I wanted to let you know that I SUPPORT the Rec Center/Field House project. I think that it would be a really great addition to the city. Not only would it provide opportunities for those in the city, but it would also increase traffic through our city.

I am a big fan of the athletic and fitness opportunities for people of all ages - but I’m also really liking the additional programming opportunities the space would provide. The Community Center is an asset to the community, to be sure, but there are certain events and programs it’s not equipped to handle… I believe the rec center will be a perfect compliment that would provide opportunities for programming that may be more difficult with the Community Center.

In addition, I believe the amount the city has secured in grants ($1.3 million+, if I understand correctly… nearly half the cost of the project) makes this a no brainier.

My family would personally benefit from this. Currently our options for fitness are paying way too much for a family membership at the YMCA, or paying an affordable single-person membership at Planet Fitness, which is far enough away and non-kid friendly enough that it makes establishing a consistent fitness routine there quite challenging for busy families like mine. I believe the rec center will solve these issues and make a more physically fit lifestyle more possible.

Now - imagine an entire community where physical fitness is within reach, affordable, and flexible enough to get consistent use. That is truly an avenue for community transformation.

I ask that you vote to approve the rec center project.

Silence can be deafening.

I’ve heard the rumors about Mr. Morrow lying about completing Master’s Degrees at Rutgers, and that he was never actually in the Marines.
Last night he was asked directly during the City Council meeting: Did you complete Master’s Degrees at Rutgers?
Did you serve in the Marines?

Mr. Morrow chose silence (quite out of character for him, especially when challenged at a council meeting).

Make of that what you will.
To me, the silence is deafening.

I’m curious - what do you all think of the idea of golf carts on Sheffield Lake streets?

I’d definitely encourage you to attend and share your thoughts!

Jon Morrow is not just doxing minors - he’s doxing EVERYONE ELSE who took the survey. He has posted names, addresses, and political affiliations of all survey takers who may or may not be minors (he claims there are no minors - it’s up to you if you believe him).

This is a major breach of privacy by our City Council Representative.

So what do we do? Here’s the action plan:

1.) 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁.
He is looking to stir up controversy to drive traffic to his page. The more views his page gets, the more Facebook shows his page to others. Don’t boost his reach.

2.) 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲. I can let you know and it won’t boost his reach.
