🌅 Tuesday Evening we’ll return to The Lighthousefor our final paddle there this year. Sometimes the last trip of the season feels a little bittersweet, but it’s also a chance to appreciate just how fortunate we’ve been to spend another summer on the water together.

I forgot to schedule a water trail clean-up for the channel, but that doesn’t mean we can’t lend a hand. I’ll be bringing extra trash bags along with my grabber. If you have a grabber or even a pair of long tongs, bring them along. Every little bit helps keep these waters beautiful for those who paddle after us.

Afterward, I’ll be sticking around for a mushroom and Swiss burger and an ice-cold Mountain Dew. If you’d like to stay awhile, share a meal, and swap a few stories before another sunset slips away, I’d be glad for the company.

🍁 Thursday Morning finds us back at Pensaukee Lakes, where autumn seems to arrive first on the water. The third lake becomes a mirror, reflecting golden leaves, blue skies, and the quiet beauty of another changing season. It’s the perfect place to pause, drift for a while, and watch the loons and other birds gathering before they begin their long journey south.

🌾 Saturday Morning we’ll gather at Judd Park for our paddle to CCC Landing. Depending on how many folks join us, we may shuttle a few vehicles before launching. Our goal is to return to Shawano in time to enjoy Oktoberfest together—a fitting way to celebrate another season well spent.

We’ll post the meeting time later this week.

As we edge closer to cooler mornings, we’ll also be taking down our mile marker signs for the season. We had hoped to make them permanent this summer and visible from both directions along the river, but some projects simply take a little longer than planned. That’s alright. Spring has a way of bringing fresh beginnings, and when it returns, so will we—with plans to finish what we started.

Until then, may your paddle find calm waters, your heart find peace in the changing leaves, and your soul remember that every season on the river leaves its own beautiful mark.

Our friends from Friends of Mountain Bay Trail - Shawano County are getting ready for the 30th anniversary celebration of the Mountain Bay Trail. Sat. 6/26, 10m - 2pm at the Trailhead Info Center and surrounding area, 620 S. Main St., Shawano. Free food, games, information, family activities and T-shirts (thanks, Thrivent.)
