Mother Nature has definitely made her presence known across Jackson County! While the recent rain has brought flooded roads, travel delays, and plenty of detours, it’s also bringing some much-needed relief to our local farmers and their crops. 🌽🚜
But with all that rain comes an important reminder…
🚨 Operation Turn Around 🚨
Our local emergency responders have already responded to multiple preventable water rescues. Every time fire, EMS, or law enforcement is dispatched to a flooded roadway, those crews become unavailable for other emergencies happening throughout our county.
We have a challenge for you:
➡️ If you come to a flooded roadway… TURN AROUND.
Don’t gamble on “I think I can make it.”
The few minutes you might save aren’t worth risking your life—or the lives of the first responders who may have to come rescue you.
📱 Please do not call 911 or Dispatch to ask if a road is closed or flooded. Our dispatchers are there to answer emergency calls and coordinate emergency responses. Keeping those phone lines open helps ensure someone experiencing a true emergency gets help as quickly as possible.
