🌧️🚧 Operation Turn Around 🚧🌧️

Mother Nature has definitely made her presence known across Jackson County! While the recent rain has brought flooded roads, travel delays, and plenty of detours, it’s also bringing some much-needed relief to our local farmers and their crops. 🌽🚜

But with all that rain comes an important reminder…

🚨 Operation Turn Around 🚨

Our local emergency responders have already responded to multiple preventable water rescues. Every time fire, EMS, or law enforcement is dispatched to a flooded roadway, those crews become unavailable for other emergencies happening throughout our county.

We have a challenge for you:

➡️ If you come to a flooded roadway… TURN AROUND.

Don’t gamble on “I think I can make it.”

The few minutes you might save aren’t worth risking your life—or the lives of the first responders who may have to come rescue you.

📱 Please do not call 911 or Dispatch to ask if a road is closed or flooded. Our dispatchers are there to answer emergency calls and coordinate emergency responses. Keeping those phone lines open helps ensure someone experiencing a true emergency gets help as quickly as possible.

💙 If you’re from Jackson County, chances are you already know which roads tend to flood. If you’re unsure about current road conditions, check out Jackson County Indiana Roadway Conditions on Facebook before you head out.

Let’s work together to keep everyone safe.

✅ Turn Around.
✅ Find another route.
✅ Keep 911 and Dispatch lines open for emergencies only.
✅ Help keep emergency resources available for those who truly need them.

Because the best rescue… is the one that never has to happen.

💙 Let’s Take a Maverick Minute. 💙

Some messages are bigger than an event. They become a movement.

At Jackson County R.I.S.E., we believe that awareness saves lives. That’s why we’re proud to help spread the word about a message that every family needs to hear.

🛑 PAUSE. INSPECT. PROTECT.

What seems like a simple reminder can make a life-changing difference. Taking just a few extra seconds to check your surroundings before moving a vehicle or piece of equipment could prevent a tragedy.

The Maverick Minute Foundation was created after the heartbreaking loss of 4-year-old Maverick Flinn and his great-grandmother, Nancy Fox, in a farm accident. Their family has transformed unimaginable loss into a nationwide mission to educate others and help keep families safe.

This Wednesday, the 2026 Leadership Jackson County & YoJack Class has partnered with the Maverick Minute Foundation to host a Touch-A-Truck event at the Jackson County Fair, where children and families can learn about blind spots, heavy equipment safety, and the importance of taking a Maverick Minute before every move.

Whether you’re a farmer, parent, grandparent, or simply someone who cares about your community, we encourage you to take a moment to learn, share, and have these conversations with the people you love.

❤️ Because one Maverick Minute can save a life. One pause can prevent a tragedy. One inspection can protect a family.

It only takes one person and one Maverick Minute to make a difference. You could be that one.

Please help us spread this important message by sharing this post and encouraging others to attend this educational event.

PAUSE. INSPECT. PROTECT. 🚜💙
