For more info visit us at www.sewardwellness.com The Wellness For All group formed in response to the 2008 Seward Community Needs Assessment, which was funded by Providence Health and Services Alaska Region. The needs assessment, conducted by Applied Survey Research, calculated health care and risk statistics in our community in relationship to the rest of Alaska. Some of the findings concluded th
at 36.6 percent of Seward residents were overweight and an additional 28.3 percent were obese. Also, 20 percent had no medical insurance and 39 percent had not received an annual wellness checkup. The identified needs spurred conversation and action among interested community members and stakeholders, and the result was the formation of the Wellness For All group. the following list is some of the agencies and individuals dedicating time and support to these initiatives:

•Local Fitness Gyms and other small business owners
•Kenai Peninsula Borough School District
•SeaLife Center
We have established 5 focus areas we refer to as sub-groups:

•Choosing Healthy Behaviors

•Fostering Fitness
We are looking to the future of health and wellness and will develop a follow-up survey with the Wellness for All group. In conjunction with this we are reviewing organized strategies to help the group focus our efforts.
