On Tuesday May 12th, the Sesser-Valier FFA partnered with the West Frankfort FFA chapter to host and facilitate the 5th annual Franklin County Ag Safety Day. These FFA members from both chapters taught the importance of Agricultural Safety practices and agricultural advocacy to 4th grade students in Franklin County elementary schools. Thank you to all that made this day possible and for the cooperation and support for this event.

On Tuesday May 5th, the Sesser-Valier FFA attended the annual Section 21 FFA banquet in Carlyle. These FFA members enjoyed a meal sponsored by the Bretz Wildlife, elected new Section 21 Officers, and were recognized for all of the CDE competitions for the 2025-2026 school year. As well as Tony’s state degree and STAR Farmer award. Maggie Hunt also ran for Section Office, which is not an easy task! Thank you Section 21 for another successful year of FFA activities and participation!

Mr. Ellis’ Ag Mech & Tech has been been continuing their work on Assembly & Adjustment topics on farm equipment. Today the students focused more on the farm equipment repair side of the industry by doing some welding work on a student’s bush hog mower.

On Tuesday April 21st, the Sesser-Valier FFA tried two new contests for our chapter, Ag Business and Ag Mechanics at Rend Lake College.

Maggie Hunt competed in the Ag Business contest to assess her knowledge skills in the area of Agricultural Business and Management.

For the Ag Mechanics contest, students had to perform their skills on different trade related tasks within agriculture. Zach Lomelino competed in the Welding category, Knox Dublo competed in Surveying, Ty Galloway competed in Engines, Beau Camden competed in Carpentry, and Colton Coffey competed in Electricity. Our chapter placed 6th overall in Section 21 for the competition.
