Hello parents/athletes,

We had a great meeting with new parents.

Dates are not set yet for starting practices. Conditioning will come first. We will not move to the track at Walhalla until school is almost out in May (this is my decision). Because I coach for the high school and I will have athletes going to state, we will need to hold off so there are not any conflicts.

Our veteran athletes are going to need to start training on their own. Please join the Band app and request Oconee Lightning. Our coaches will post virtual workouts there.

Payment and How This Works:

If you sponsor at the Gold Level $500.00 - your athletes/family is fully covered for the season. You will handle your own lodging of course.

All athletes that are running on the track - will be required to pay a track fee (1 per family) that is due with your application now for the season whether you compete or not. https://buy.stripe.com/00gcQv4KE0CacVO9AO

To compete, this year it will cost $250.00 per family if you already have uniforms. If you do not have uniforms, the cost is $250 plus $90 per uniform that you need.

The payment for the uniforms is due April 1st because it takes six weeks to get the uniforms here. We do not have extra uniforms and there is no way around this fee.

Competition Payment 1: $100.00 due April 1 and you can pay online here:

Jun 19-21, 2026 : USATFSC Association Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships (Florence, SC) WILL NEED LODGING

Jul 09-12, 2026 : USATF Region Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships (Carrollton, GA) (can be done each day back and forth - may not need lodging)

Jul 27- Aug 02, 2026 : USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships (Cerritos, CA) *** YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN IF YOU MAKE IT ***

Calling all parents and athletes that are interested in sweaty hot summer track!

We will have a kick off meeting 6:30 P.M. on Friday, February 6th at Mountain Mocha in Walhalla.

This is to share the season schedule and talk about conditioning. We will also answer any questions for new athletes.

Oconee Lightning has had our best season yet! As a team, we know who we are and what we stand for. We are family. Every athlete knows the names of every single person on our team. Every athlete is seen, heard, and poured into. We thank Oconee Federal Savings and Loan MCS Portable Restrooms Davenport Funeral & Cremation Services Unsworth Marketing Group, LLC. and an additional anonymous concrete company for their generous donations to get 12 out of 14 of our national qualifiers to nationals. 10 out of 12 athletes hit a personal record and that is the most you can ask for when you are competing against 75+ athletes per event. 8,000 athletes USA Track & Field Junior Olympics.
