Two of our homes this year are undergoing renovations. The Cochran House at Crumptonia, was built circa 1855 for Claudius Cochran from South Carolina. A massive two-story Greek Revival, it was later purchased by the Crumpton family, and the plantation became known as Crumptonia. Its current owner has worked to stabilize the house with a new roof and other supports, but its interior needs work. The Mill-Albritton House, circa 1854, is an elegant edifice in downtown Orrville, and it has undergone considerable refurbishing by its new owners. Improvements include windows, painting and modern climate control. It is a work in progress! Vintage wallpaper along the staircase has been left as is. Out front is an historic marker from the Historic American Buildings Survey.

The Bland-Chestnut-Turner House is a well-preserved antebellum beauty that stands in a picture-perfect setting close to the Orrville city limits. It is a Plantation "I" House with refined Greek Revival details. This year was its first time on tour, and a bonus was the family cemetery that recently underwent major restoration.

The Ellis-Dunaway-Gardner House was founded in 1850 as the Orrville Male Academy. Since it became a private home, its current preservation-loving owner has turned it into her residence plus a bed-and-breakfast and an AirBnB in a cabin out back. This Greek Revival masterpiece features Ionic and Doric columns, a wide grand hallway and stairs believed to have been built especially to accommodate its young students. The charming Pope-Givhan House is an 1838 Tidewater Cottage that was moved from nearby. Owned by Maj. Gen. Walter D. Givhan, USAF (Ret.) and his wife Frances, it was restored over several years and completes Givhan's childhood dream of having a house on this hill with an expansive view. The scenery from the porch is breathtaking, but wait til you see the back sunporch!
