Update- Our little Dale Livery found at the mailbox with assumed Distemper made the decision for us and took his last breath today. We were going to give him a little time to see if he progressed because he ate well.

Thank you for all of your encouragement in our comments. We are so blessed to be surrounded with people who understand that not every decision is a favorable one and that we don't take them lightly.

Thank you for trusting us to do the best we can and to have the animals' best interest at heart.

Join us this month for a free, three-day virtual symposium on firefly research and conservation in the United States and Canada! Each day of the symposium will consist of five to six presentations, and opportunities for networking and discussion.

Presentation topics include firefly biology, community science, conservation and management, firefly tourism, and educational programming.

This event is intended for everyone interested in fireflies and their conservation in the US and Canada, including conservation practitioners, agency biologists, environmental educators, community scientists, academic researchers, and firefly enthusiasts.

We had so many people come out to help gather nuts for wildlife! We even hit a trail to look for nuts since the trees at the first location haven't dropped many this season and had people tag along. At the end, we got to meet Aubrey for pickup at the front of the park and she had Lucky with her! 🦝🥲

If your yard or property has walnuts or acorns, please feel free to gather them up and coordinate a drop-off with Cordy's Castle Wildlife Rescue. Please review the last pic on acorn sorting, prep, and storage Aubrey provided me with 🌰🥜

It is late, and honestly, we are exhausted.

October is full of many wonderful gifts-the crisp air, the leaves changing, Fall blooming plants exploding into beautiful bursts of color for our pollinators, several birthdays of our loved ones to celebrate their lives, spooky season, and cooler hikes.

Although October brings many things to be thankful for, we are tired. My late father's birthday is this month, and so is his death day, less than a week apart. He was my favorite, my best friend, my mentor, and sometimes like my child-he was such a free spirit. I hope to share more about him with you all here-and-there.

Today we have lost one of the most beautiful humans I have ever met and it just seems like a lot is weighing down on this family from all sides.

Many people have been lost these last few years and we are tired and our loved ones are too.

Always remind people that they are loved, even if you already tell them. Go to the family get together. Go to the hangout. Stay in touch, no matter if you speak once a month.

Spread love everywhere. Honor our late loved ones🖤
