Week 30: April 27th
Week 31: May 4th
We enjoyed some time outside with bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Justin, Max, and Ezmaray brought in their baby turkeys. The kids were so fortunate to hold and pet them. A huge thank you to the Giles family for sharing them. Kathleen and Diane Gruber helped me run a two day bake sale at the Spring Carnival. Thank you to Diane Gruber, Shirley Giles, Roberta Collier, and to Kathleen Gruber for baking delicious treats to raise money for the preschool. A huge thank you for all of the cash donations and to Roberta and Alvin Swick for their large donation. The preschool feels so loved and supported by our community.
The flight simulator came out so we could fly to Homer and Hawaii. It’s fun using our JBL speaker to play thunder/rain/lightening and Hawaii music for the kids to fly the plane while we pretend the weather is making the plane experience turbulence and pretend the flight might be a little bumpy.
Lila and I hula danced in Hawaii and we were able to send home Mother’s Day gifts to all of our preschool moms. We appreciate you in so many ways! We used one of our obstacle course boxes to fish from.

The 55th anniversary of the Week of the Young Child is here! While supporting and celebrating young children is something we value all year long, this week offers a special opportunity to recognize their importance, along with the teachers, families, and communities who care for them every day. We hope during this week, and every week, you will “think of the children first.”

As we kick off the week with Music Monday, we celebrate how music helps children stay active, build early literacy skills, and connect with others through play and creativity. In honor of the day, we’re sharing a special clip from 1985 featuring Fred Rogers and Yo-Yo Ma, where Ma shares how he began playing the cello, talks about where it was made, and demonstrates how different ways of playing can evoke or relieve certain emotions. https://www.fredrogersinstitute.org/archive/mister-rogers-visits-with-yo-yo-ma

Sensory focus: Play-doh, dobbers, painting, and coloring
We planted flower seeds in separate planters and we will watch them sprout and grow!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is the craft focus of the week. The preschoolers did a directional drawing of the very hungry caterpillar and we created and painted caterpillars out of egg cartons. We used pipe cleaners and Pom Poms to give them those special details.
Our center choices were construction dress up, wooden blocks, hammers and nails, play doh, mazes, reading, and floor puzzles.
Our songs of the week were: The ABC song , Down By The Bay, Days of the Week, and Months of the Year.
