The Aspen Effect’s Teen Advisory Board celebrated with a breakfast at B & B Cafe in Castle Rock this week at the close of another successful school year.

During this past year, they met every month at the Happy Dog Ranch to plan and implement important goals that were set, facilitated an important survey on substance use for youth in the Douglas County School District , and they shared their findings in a presentation to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office SROs who will use the data to help guide their future efforts in mentoring and supporting students.

The Aspen Effect was honored to attend this one-of-a-kind event at the place we call home, Happy Dog Ranch. It is not only a sanctuary for the horses and other animals who live there, but it provides an ideal healing environment for the youth we work with to feel grounded, connected, protected and nurtured.

The Aspen Effect's Teen Advisory Board did a stellar job in presenting findings from their Douglas County student substance use prevention survey to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers. The SROs found the information valuable in their role as student mentors! Great partnership!

We are so proud of Josiah Brazil, one of the members of our Teen Advisory Board. He was a recipient of the Douglas County Outstanding Youth Award last night. His wonderful grandparents John and Ronda Brazil were with him, along with members of the Teen Advisory Board to celebrate this special night!
