Call for WWL award nominations: Deadline August 7

We invite you to nominate deserving colleagues for the following three awards:

1) President's Award
Recognizes extraordinary contributions and leadership with lasting impact on Washington Women Lawyers and the legal community. To nominate, please email [email protected]

2) Chief Justice Mary Fairhurst Passing the Torch Award
Honors individuals who excel at mentoring women lawyers and advancing our mission to further the full integration of women in the legal profession, promote equal rights and opportunities, and prevent discrimination.

3) Legacy Award
Created in 2009 to memorialize the inspiring personal and professional legacies within our organization. This award honors founding and key sustaining members whose contributions continue to shape our progress.

This Fourth of July, I'm reminded that freedom is more than a word—it's something that has been earned, defended, and preserved through the sacrifices of countless members of our military and their families.

We have the privilege of working within a system built on the rule of law, individual rights, and the freedoms our Constitution protects. Those principles exist because generations of service members have been willing to stand in harm's way on behalf of others.

Today, as we celebrate with family, friends, and community, I hope we also take a moment to remember those who are serving around the world, those who have served before them, and the families who carry the burdens of that service every day.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Fourth of July. May we never take our freedoms—or those who protect them—for granted.

On Memorial Day, we honor and remember the service members who gave their lives in defense of our country and the freedoms we hold dear. Their sacrifice reminds us of the responsibility we share to serve our communities with integrity, compassion, and courage.
