In times of need we lean on those in our circle of family and friends. Knowing that we have people in our life that are there for us allows us to feel we belong. It gives us confidence to move forward.

Homelessness strips people of this feeling of belonging. Alone, without support, without confidence, it is no wonder why so many struggle to pull themselves out of homelessness.

Facing Homelessness, with its Circle program, is asking our community to step into circles of friendship and support for those floating alone in our community.

Please meet Jester. She is this amazingly wonderful young woman that had a very difficult childhood. Her upbringing closed her down, kept her from finding her own voice and the confidence to mature in a way that she wants and needs. At her breaking point, she left her family and town, moved to Seattle with nothing to her name, and became homeless.

She now lives in one of Facing Homelessness's BLOCK Homes, ready to take the next step forward. She has asked FH for a Circle, one that she has named her Circle of Friends!

Currently Jester has two people in her Circle of Friends and is set to interview six others who have stepped forward. Her goal is to have ten! IF by chance you play the violin please know that Jester is wanting to learn to play and would loveLOVE to meet you! When Jester arrived in Seattle, leaving behind an unhealthy childhood, she knew she would be stepping into the unknown of homelessness.

Through her own courage and a series of fortunate steps she found Facing Homelessness and was able to get into a BLOCK Home, one that she has beautifully made her own. That was a year and a half ago and she is now ready to confidently continue her journey of healing!

With the help of her friend Laurie Mann, who began the friendship as a Facing Homelessness Companion, Jester has made the decision to step into the Circle of Ten, another Facing Homelessness program, one that helps create a chosen family of support and love. To help Jester continue to move forward, we are hoping the Facing Homelessness community can help her with a few items. With winter approaching she needs better footwear, both tennis shoes and boots. She also wants to continue with her artwork, hoping to make gifts for the holidays!

FH-Circle of Ten

IMAGINE if every person struggling in our community had a group of ten supportive people around them as a chosen family.

Ten people who, through friendship, say - I see you and believe in you. Ten people listening and being supportive. Ten people mentoring and opening opportunities. Ten people who want to be friends with you for life no matter where the journey leads.

The Facing Homelessness CIRCLE of TEN program helps individuals find a chosen intentional family. Ten people promising a life-long commitment of friendship, one that strives to be unconditional and centered on the idea that we are all trying to be better humans. The circle is grounded in the relentless act of listening and loving. There are no financial obligations or expectations. This is pure and simple friendship.

Every person living on the streets wants to move forward in their life. Nobody chooses to be homeless. However, due to personal issues, circumstances and societal barriers, not everyone is ready to move forward. If and when they are, we hope to provide a CIRCLE of TEN waiting for them, creating a safety net of care, resources, and opportunity.

Please meet Jester and Laurie. Jester, on the left, is this amazingly wonderful young woman that had a very difficult childhood. Jester is courageously ready to move forward in her life and is asking for a Circle of Ten!! Laurie is the first to join her circle and will be the Circle Coordinator.

We are now looking for nine additional circle members!!!

Jester has shared with us her goals, which include her love of sustainable organic farming, playing music, doing art, and more. If you feel you might fit one of the descriptions below, please contact us to be interviewed and considered. There are no right and wrongs in who Jester is looking for, she will be just looking for the right fit. Also, being that Jester is younger, she would love it if some of the folks joining were also younger!

02. Someone with organic sustainable urban farming experience.
03. Someone that owns an organic perma-culture business.
04. Someone that owns a small local organic farm.
05. Someone that works as an artist.
06. Someone that teaches art.
07. Someone that plays the violin
08. Someone that teaches violin.
09. Someone that does and or teaches archery.
10. Someone with knowledge in purchasing land for future farm.
