This morning, our Founder and Executive Director, Tanner Hoskins, met with members of Oregon legislative staff to discuss critical gaps families experience when official Search and Rescue operations end without locating the missing person.

We shared how families are often left without guidance, mental health resources, financial navigation, or awareness of continued search options — exactly the challenges we see in nearly every cold case we take on.

The conversation highlighted the importance of practical improvements, such as better transition support and referrals to vetted nonprofits that can extend disciplined searches in rural and remote terrain at no cost to families.

We’re encouraged by the interest shown today and remain deeply committed to advocating for families who feel abandoned when the official search concludes. PNWMPP will continue providing evidence-based, volunteer-driven searches while pushing for systemic change that honors both the missing and those left behind.

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers and donors who make this work possible — often at significant personal sacrifice. Your support allows us to be there when others have stepped back.

If you or someone you know needs assistance with a missing loved one in the Pacific Northwest, please reach out. We’re here to help.

PNWMPP is dedicated to the search for and recovery of missing persons (cold-cases) in rural and remote locations of Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Montana.

Tanner Hoskins, our Founder and Executive Director at the Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project (PNWMPP), is actively meeting with Senator Janeen Sollman (Oregon State legislator) and working with other lawmakers to drive meaningful change.

When official Search and Rescue (SAR) operations end without locating the missing person, families are too often left in devastating limbo—not just without answers, but without any roadmap for support.

This gap is something our team hears in nearly 100% of the cold cases we take on. Families suddenly lose access to:
• Pensions and survivor benefits
• Bank accounts and the ability to manage or sell assets
• Mental health resources tailored to ambiguous loss
• Basic guidance while grieving
In many cases, the missing person was the sole provider, forcing families into impossible choices between searching for their loved one and simply surviving.

This cannot continue.

At PNWMPP, we don’t stop at the official search. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we provide disciplined, volunteer-driven continued searches in rural and remote Pacific Northwest terrain—at zero cost to families. We’ve logged over 11,570 volunteer hours, 215+ days in the field, and 319+ miles hiked because every family deserves a structured path forward.
We search for the missing—and we advocate fiercely for the families left behind.

Change is possible when lawmakers hear these stories directly from those on the front lines. We’re grateful for Senator Sollman’s time and leadership on these issues, especially given the ties to her district.
If you or someone you know has been impacted by a missing loved one, know that you’re not alone. Reach out—we’re here to help.

💙 Share this if you believe families deserve better support after SAR ends. Follow for updates on our advocacy and ongoing searches.

Dear PNWMPP Community,

I wanted to let you know that I sustained a significant injury while conducting a search for a missing person in the Gales Creek, Oregon area.

The wound required medical evaluation and treatment, including confirmation that it is a deep tissue injury with periosteal involvement (reaching the bone surface).

As a result, I will be out of the field for an estimated 2–4 weeks to allow proper healing and to minimize any risk of complications. My medical team anticipates a full recovery timeline of 6–8 weeks before I can safely return to full operational duties, including search deployments.

If we had any scheduled in-person meetings during this period, please let’s shift those to Zoom, Google Meet, phone, or other remote formats for the time being.

I’m fully committed to staying connected and contributing virtually wherever possible.
I’m focusing on rest, following medical guidance closely, and doing everything I can to recover as quickly and completely as possible.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support—your patience means a lot during this recovery.

Grateful for an exciting conversation today with representatives from DJI about how drone technology can assist the mission of the Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project.

Our team is always looking for ways to safely search more terrain and bring answers to families. Conversations like this help move that vision forward.

Thankful for the time and for companies willing to explore how their technology can support real-world missions.

This week, PNWMPP is ramping up search efforts in the Gales Creek, Oregon area in the ongoing search for Thomas “Tom” Weightman.

Our team is actively following up on new leads and planning coordinated search operations in cooperation with local landowners. Activity in the coming days will focus on multiple locations of interest connected to case details shared by our law enforcement partners.

We remain committed to supporting Tom’s loved ones and continuing the work needed to bring answers. We appreciate the community’s awareness and support as operations continue.

Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project just launched our official GoFundMe campaign to help us continue search and recovery operations for missing persons across the region. Every deployment costs fuel, equipment, and time — and our volunteers show up because families deserve answers.

If you believe no family should feel forgotten, please consider donating or sharing the link. Even a share helps more than you know. Visibility is everything for a small nonprofit like ours.

Thank you for supporting the work, the mission, and the families still waiting for closure.

Support our cause by donating to The Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project.

When search and rescue ends…
most families are told to go home and wait.

Wait without answers.
Wait without closure.

Countless families are left grieving, not knowing where their loved one is — or what happened to them.

No family should be left in limbo.

That’s where we step in.

We fill the gap.

And we never stop searching.

Do you or someone you know have a reliable 4x4 pickup or four-door SUV you no longer need?

The Pacific Northwest Missing Persons Project (PNWMPP) is currently seeking a donated vehicle to serve as a dedicated Search & Recovery rig. We operate in remote, rugged terrain, and right now our volunteers are using their personal daily drivers to reach search zones.

Vehicle donations to a qualified nonprofit like PNWMPP may be tax-deductible. In general, the donor can claim a deduction based on the vehicle’s fair market value or the amount the nonprofit receives if the vehicle is sold, depending on IRS rules and how the vehicle is used. We provide the proper donation acknowledgment and documentation required for tax reporting.

Our team members are spending hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars maintaining their own vehicles to continue this work. A donated rig would directly support field operations and reduce the financial burden on volunteers serving missing families.

If you’re interested or want more information about how the donation process works, please message us privately.

Thank you for supporting the mission.
