Uganda Village Project empowers underserved adolescents and women in rural Uganda by advancing access to sexual and reproductive health education and services, alongside medical intervention. Through partnerships with Iganga, Bugweri, and Kiryandongo Districts, UVP supports community health by working closely with Village Health Teams and local leaders to strengthen ownership and increase access t
o available health services. UVPβs current programming focuses on two key areas: Adolescent Reproductive Health and Obstetric Fistula Prevention, Treatment, and Social Reintegration. Community- and school-based outreach forms the foundation of both programs. For fistula patients, UVP organizes several surgical repair camps per year, providing transportation, surgery, and hospital care. Following surgery, women participate in an 8-week program focused on healing, skills-building (e.g., sewing), and basic business training. Our work is grounded in human-centered, relationship-driven education that fosters dialogue and trust. By investing deeply in local partnerships and engaging communities in every step of the process, UVP reaches individuals who might otherwise be excluded from critical health information and careβcreating sustainable, long-term change from within.
