Seattle Parks Foundation We partner with community to champion thriving and equitable parks and public spaces. Build honest places for real people. Invest for the long term. Don’t sell.

"Really get to know the neighbors, and learn from them what makes the place tick. Gain the trust of your partners and the community so they will make the leap with you. Be prudent and go slow, for there are swift punishments for getting it wrong. Enlist a strong board and listen to them when you disagree, but be stubborn in the big things. Remember the public interest. Never boast."

Six years ago this week, the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) was signed into law! The bipartisan bill funds improvements to infrastructure and expands recreational opportunities in national parks and other public lands. 🏞️

We’re grateful for the resources the GAOA provides, such as permanently funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). However, it’s also important to acknowledge our current reality: public lands and waters across the country are increasingly vulnerable to losing protections—and it’s up to us to act. 🗳️ 📧
