Abe Keller Peace Education Fund

Abe Keller Peace Education Fund Working towards peace through education and community awareness. It intends to contribute to activities that are promising but not yet self-sustaining.

The potential scope of peace education is enormous, and focus is needed to foster progress in such a large field. The initial scope of the Abe Keller Peace Education Fund is in two areas that were both close to Abe's heart: Conflict resolution in our communities, and fostering peace leadership by the United States in international affairs. It is recognized that peace issues and issues of economic,

racial, and environmental justice are intimately linked, and the focus of the Fund may shift over time to embrace these other issues as needs and opportunities arise. The fund does not intend to conduct peace education activities itself, but prefers to support the ongoing work of other organizations.

‏In honor of lives recently lost on the streets of Iranian cities SISCA presents: VIGIL & ART EXHIBITION IN SOLIDARITY

Sunday, March 1, 2026
4:00–8:00 pm, Seattle City Hall

Being physically distant from loved ones in Iran while continuing our daily lives here has created a profound emotional strain within our community. Many are carrying deep grief quietly, navigating the expectations of everyday life without sufficient space to pause, reflect, or mourn together. Too often, moments of remembrance are fleeting; the depth of the grief overwhelming, leaving little room for collective acknowledgment, healing, or shared solace.

To offer a space for reflection, remembrance, and support, Seattle–Isfahan Sister City Advocacy (SISCA) will open the doors of Seattle City Hall to all who wish to gather in community. This vigil is intended as a sanctuary—a place to honor the many lives tragically lost, to bear witness together, and to grieve in a spirit of compassion and solidarity, alongside friends and allies.

The evening will also include a Solidarity Art Exhibition, featuring powerful works by Iranian artists whose images have resonated widely across the community, including Kiarash Khalili , Saba Soleymani , Sheida Babagoli .babagoli, Marjane Saidi .saidi.art, Farshad Alamdari .me and others. These works serve as visual testimonies—expressions of grief, resilience, and hope—offering another language through which we can remember and stand together.

We invite you to join us at Seattle City Hall on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 pm, for a Vigil and art exhibition in Solidarity. All are welcome to come quietly, to remember, to support one another, and to find strength in shared presence. Together, we will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice as we hold space for hope and healing.

This event is FREE and open to all.

Today, the Council recognized August 6 & 9, 2025, as the 80th anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings. We call upon our federal delegates to take action to prevent an escalating nuclear arms race. Nuclear weapons must never again be used.

You are Invited: by West Seattle Indivisible West Seattle Indivisible Gather on the Beach for Peace
Sunday Sept 21: 8:30- 11:30

"West Seattle Indivisible is celebrating the International Day of Peace, observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

To this end, you are invited to help us form a ‘human banner’ to spell out PEACE FOR ALL along the West Seattle waterfront! We are creating a beautiful image with the skyline of Seattle as our background, to share around the world. Everyone is invited to be part of this banner; the way it works is that we’ll have a thousand flags stencilled with the image of a dove, and chalk lines for the letters on the ground. At the signal, we all take our places on the lines, holding our banners above our heads and waving. Photographers will take our picture with Seattle in the background.

We’ll meet at 2130 Harbor Ave SW, between Salty’s and Jack Block Park, Sunday morning, September 21. We plan to have music, inspirational speakers, and a thousand people demonstrating for peace."
