Volunteer Opportunity at Deaf Lit Fest!

Interested in volunteering during the Deaf LIt Fest on Oct 9-11, 2026? We are looking for volunteers to come and help us during the festival. Volunteer roles include help clean up, setting up, ticket sales, guiding people, and more. Volunteer shifts available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to fit your schedules!

Free Seattle Art Museum / Seattle Asian Art Museum tickets to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing community members!

Back for a 4th year, Deaf Spotlight will distribute FREE museum passes to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing community members through the Seattle Art Museum Community Pass Program.

Please fill out the form below with your name, your mailing address, and how many passes you would like to get. Each person can get up to 2 community passes. Each community pass will give you 6 tickets each. Your passes must be redeemed by the end of year 2026.

Seeking Volunteers for the upcoming Halloween Party!

We're looking for AMAZING volunteers like you to help out with decorating and setting up the Community Halloween Party! ADWAS, Washington Hands and Voices and Deaf Spotlight are co-hosting this event.

The Halloween Party will take place on Sunday, October 25, 10AM-2PM.

Expectations: Assist with setting up decorations, setting up the maze, activity areas, and tables.

Danica: Hi! Do you know what is coming soon?? Yes, Deaf Lit Festival! The festival is happening on October 9-11, 2026. We are now looking for volunteers to come and help us during the festival. What kind of roles do we need? We have many different roles. Help cleaning up, setting up, ticket sales, guiding people, and more. When and what time we need to have volunteers? Friday evening, Saturday all day, and Sunday all day time slots available for you to pick to match your schedule and preferences. If you need more information, go ahead and email us. Or go ahead and fill out the form, put down your preferences. I will contact you to work out the volunteer schedule. We are excited and looking forward to the festival!

Announcing additional authors to the Deaf Lit Fest lineup!

Raymond Luczak and Carlisle Robinson are joining the lineup of previously announced authors for the Deaf Lit Fest on October 9-11!

Raymond Luczak is the author and editor of over 40 books, including the poetry collections Ironhood and Animals Out-There W-i-l-d. He’s edited the anthologies I’ll Tell You Later: Deaf Survivors of Dinner Table Syndrome and Deaf Poetry Now!!! He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Carlisle Robinson is a comic creator and illustrator from Canada and USA. They are passionate about educating the public with rarely told stories by the minority groups, especially deaf people. They went to Gallaudet University for undergrad. They graduated from The Center for Cartoon Studies in Spring 2015 with a Master of Fine Arts. They currently reside in Toronto.

Brittany Castle, the owner of 58 Creativity, will be the instructor for this workshop. You will learn how to improve your vendor selling, share many good tips from her experiences of business owners. Brittany Castle shares her experience running vendor booths, offering insight on how to be more successful selling products at different events, along with helpful tips to strengthen your future vendor booth setup and sales strategy.

This is one of the Creative Professional Development Workshop Series, by Art & Design Program - Deaf Spotlight, featuring accomplished Deaf professionals who are artists, business owners, and leaders within business and arts & culture nonprofit sectors.

There’s still time to apply for the BIPOC Deaf Arts Grant!

The Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Deaf Arts Grant is an annual program established in 2021 which provides financial support for emerging and established artists to further advance their careers.

The Deaf Arts Grant will make a crucial difference for US-based BIPOC Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and Hard of Hearing artists to thrive in the challenging arts field. This grant is supported by Deaf Spotlight (Seattle, WA) and Urban Jazz Dance Company (Bay Area, CA).

Deadline to apply: August 28, 2026.
