☕💚 August Climate Cafe Recap!

This month, we talked about finding and holding onto joy during the climate crisis: what brings us joy, why it matters, and how it can help keep us going as we work for change.

We also explored what contributes to the climate crisis and brainstormed ways that young people can mobilize and take action in our communities.

🎉 Climate Action Families is turning 13! 🎉

Join us on September 11 from 6–8 PM for an evening of friends, family, pizza, cupcakes, and updates as we celebrate 13 years of CAF!

🍕 Pizza Party Potluck
Bring a dish if you can, but no worries if you can’t; we know families are busy! We’ll have plenty of pizza and cupcakes to share.

⭐ Open to all families!

The picnic shelter is right behind the Good Shepherd Center, with street parking and a nearby parking lot. Metro Route 62 is also accessible. And if it sprinkles, we’ve got you covered! ☔

🔭 Last part of our Perseid Campout recap!

With the help of Keith, a NASA-certified solar system educator, families got a closer look at the Sun during the day and explored stars and constellations at night. We spotted sunspots and prominences, looked at Mizar and Alcor, and even got a view of the colorful double star Albireo. ✨

Our Perseid Campout gave us a chance to spend a weekend outside, learn about the night sky, and connect with the natural world and each other.

Thanks to everyone who joined us, and to the Sound View team and Keith for helping make this weekend possible! 🌌

Between all the exploring, we also took some time to slow down and make art in nature. Families made watercolor art inspired by the landscapes around camp🌿

🌌 Part 1 of our Perseid Campout recap!!

We spent a lot of this outside thjs weekend on the Key Peninsula, exploring the campground, connecting with new and old friends, and getting out on the water.

Families took kayaks out to paddle around the shores, even seeing bioluminescence after dark!

Climate Cafes began in rural Scotland in 2015 and have since grown into spaces around the world where people can find community, support one another, and feel less alone in navigating the climate crisis.
