Yesterday was a beautiful example of what it means to come together as a village. 🌎🤎
In honor of National Healthy Awareness Day, the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle Guild was proud to partner with Byrd Barr Place, the Marvina Thomas Foundation, and Rainier Community Center under the powerful Black Maternal Health theme:
“Village Voices: It Takes a Community to Protect a Mother.”
What made the day so special was the reminder that wellness touches every part of our lives. From health resources and wellness vendors to fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade products, movement, music, Zumba, dancing, laughter, and community connection — the entire event reflected a holistic approach to caring for our people.
Black Maternal Health is about more than one moment in time. It’s about healthy families, healthy communities, access, support, education, joy, movement, healing, and making sure no one walks alone.
Thank you to every volunteer, vendor, community partner, and attendee who helped make such a meaningful impact. This is what community care looks like. Seattle showed up beautifully. ❤️💚🖤
