Some of the biggest life lessons don’t happen in a classroom—they happen when you show up for someone else.

These two sisters sat down to share how serving elderly members of our community has changed them in ways they never expected. From meaningful conversations to unexpected friendships, they discovered that giving your time often gives you something back, too.

Behind every volunteer is a story.
Behind every act of kindness is a life that’s being changed—sometimes it’s your own.

“It’s more than pulling weeds.”

Today we met Bailey, an incoming freshman at Bonney Lake High School, and her mom.

As Bailey prepares to begin her first year with the Pantherettes Drill Team, she shared something that stopped us in our tracks:

“It’s inspiring to see the team come together to help neighbors who can no longer help themselves.”

That’s what this is really about.

Not the yard.
Not the cameras.
Not the volunteer hours.

It’s about a generation learning that leadership begins with serving others.

Today, weeds were pulled.
Yards were restored.
But something even more important was growing…

Compassion.
Character.
Community.

This is what happens when young people choose to show up.

One yard.
One neighbor.
One act of kindness at a time.

There is something special that happens when a community comes together to serve.

Today, the Bonney Lake High School Pantherettes Drill Team spent part of their summer blessing our dear neighbors, Sammy and Pete. With smiles, teamwork, and servant hearts, they pulled weeds, cleared yard debris, and gave their yard the care it deserved.

This project was about so much more than yard work. It was about showing up. It was about reminding our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

At The Blessing Movement, we believe the strongest communities are built through simple acts of kindness. Today’s service project is a beautiful reminder that when young people choose compassion over convenience, they inspire all of us to do the same.

To the Pantherettes—thank you for leading with your hearts and proving that service is one of the greatest forms of leadership. Your impact reaches far beyond a freshly cleaned yard. It reaches into the hearts of the people you serve.

❤️ What a Year of Blessings! ❤️

As we reflect on this past year, we are filled with gratitude for the many hands and feet that came together to serve our community.

From helping local senior citizens with yard projects and home assistance, to supporting our veterans at Puyallup’s Post 67, countless acts of kindness made a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Thank you to the students and leaders of the Bonney Lake High School and Sumner High School Key Clubs, National Honor Society chapters, and The Blessing Club for your dedication to serving others.

Together, we have impacted lives through your helping hands, giving hearts, and willingness to show up when our community needed it most.

Every project completed, every meal served, every yard cleaned, every smile shared, and every person encouraged is a reminder that when a community comes together, amazing things happen.

Thank you for being part of The Blessing Movement. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together in the year ahead!

The Blessing Movement and Bonney Lake Center Seniors volunteers were at the Puyallup Fair this past Saturday for Dozer Days. We helped raise money for scholarships for our Sumner Bonney Lake School District students and we had a lot of fun!
