National Community Health Worker Awareness Week is happening this week, and HealthierHere is taking the moment to recognize the Community Based Workers who make our work possible every day.

Community Health Workers and Community Based Workers build trust where systems often can't, connecting neighbors to the care and resources they need.

We're grateful for the Community Based Workers who show up for their community every day, often without the recognition their work deserves.

Thank you to every Community Health Worker doing this work in King County and beyond.

Today, we welcomed Seattle City Councilmember Dionne Foster to Villa Communitaria in South Park, and it was a moving morning of connection.

Councilmember Foster heard directly from Villa Communitaria staff about the care and dedication behind their work serving our community. A local community member shared how her life was changed by Villa Communitaria and the HealthierHere Community Hub, and we had a real conversation about what it will take to protect immigrant communities and others facing the threat of Medicaid cuts under H.R.1.

This is what cross-sector collaboration looks like: community organizations and local government at the same table, listening to each other, and building together.

We’re grateful to Councilmember Foster for showing up and leaning in.
