👋 Hey there! Are you an adoptee in between the ages 13-16; or maybe you know one you care very much about?

Let this be your sign to find connection and understanding (or help them find it) in The Adoptee Lounge this Sunday with the very awesome Shelise! 🫶

The Adoptee Lounge brings together small groups of up to five adoptees in a virtual space facilitated by a trained adoptee mentor. Sessions are structured enough to hold the conversation — and open enough to go where it needs to go.

Time for our next volunteer shoutout! 🥳

As a small (and growing) organization, AMS relies a lot on volunteers, many who are adoptees themselves. We asked them to answer a few questions so that we could celebrate how unique and special our team is. We wouldn't be AMS without them! A beautiful response to this question from an adoptee:

"Connecting with other adoptees is not 'trauma bonding.' The feeling is like a big sigh. In conversation specifically sometimes I see it like layers. Kind of like stacking different colored sheer fabrics. Depending on who you are with, the opacity and color of the final result will shift.

Like it's all me but in layers.

Certain places and people I just bring out certain colors and traits and conversations too. Like different layers of being who you are. Sometimes I can only layer a few traits, so the me that shows up could be transparent and less vivid, but also just a different hue and fully opaque."

As a small (and growing) organization, Adoptee Mentoring Society relies a lot on volunteers! Over the next week we're going to be shouting out three awesome volunteers, who all happen to be adoptees themselves. Huge thank you shout out to Sarah Heath and Kit Meyers for representing AMS at the Chinese Adoptee Collective’s second conference in Philly! We feel super grateful that they were able to connect with nearly 200 Chinese adoptees and help strengthen community, belonging, and adoptee connection across the country. 💚🤍
