The Dollar General Dog Dynasty of Scroggins continues to establish its presence in the Midwest with the adoption of Marsha Dale. 🐾💚

Tomorrow, our partners at Let Love Live will be transporting Marsha Dale and several other dogs from here in rural Texas to their new homes in Minnesota.

This is wonderful news for Marsha Dale, and I really am very happy about it. It’s quite literally the exact thing I’ve been working towards.

I would still prefer that nobody ask me how I’m doing tomorrow. 😅

The Last of the Dollar General Dog Dynasty. 🐾

Well, here we are.

After over two years, multiple generations, and 26 dogs, we are officially down to one.

DQ.

Drama Queen herself. 👑

Her siblings have found their people, and the family tree that once seemed determined to populate the entirety of Franklin County has finally stopped growing.

And somehow, DQ is the last one standing.

She is eight months old, spayed, fully vetted, and currently accepting applications for a permanent position in someone else’s personal business. 😂

DQ is a genuinely sweet girl who can be a little shy when meeting new people. She likes to take her time, observe the situation, and make sure nobody is doing anything suspicious.

Once she’s comfortable, however, the reservations disappear.

So does your personal space.

You may eventually find yourself remembering those quieter early days with considerable fondness.

DQ loves toys, fetch, Benebones, running around outside, and following her person absolutely everywhere. She is affectionate, playful, smart, and very interested in whatever you happen to be doing.

She is also remarkably difficult to photograph, largely because she considers sitting still an unreasonable request. 🫠 (The picture accompanying this post represents a considerable investment of time and patience. Please appreciate it accordingly.)

Despite her name, DQ is actually a pretty easygoing girl. She gets along with other dogs, enjoys being around her people, and has a lot of love to give.

She would just prefer to give it to you from approximately three inches away.

Twenty-six dogs. One very complicated family.

One last home to find.

We believe strongly in providing appropriate enrichment for the dogs in our care while they wait for their forever homes.

Today, that apparently meant giving DQ a human hand. 💀

To be clear, it is a Benebone.

That fact did not make watching her eat it any less disturbing.

What began as a cute Halloween-themed enrichment activity 🎃 took a fairly significant turn once she settled down, held the wrist between her paws, and really started working on the fingers.

She has been at it for quite some time.

She seems fulfilled.

We are considerably less comfortable.

Anyway, DQ is still available for adoption. She is spayed, fully vetted, extremely affectionate, and apparently capable of disposing of evidence.

Thanks to Benebone for creating something the dogs absolutely love, and the rest of us deeply regret having eyes for. 😂

Marsha Dale and DQ have a lot of toys, and every single one of them was brand new when the girls moved into the kennel building.

They have since been very thoroughly loved.

The flamingo is tired. 🦩
The octopus is tired. 🐙
Everybody is tired.

Especially the flamingo. 😂

Since they genuinely do have favorites, we made an Amazon wishlist with the exact toys they already love so we can replace some of the ones currently hanging on by a thread.

Does anyone recognize these two dogs?

I travel this road regularly and have never seen either of them before. They were very thirsty, but otherwise appear to be in decent shape.
