The Bhutanese Community of Scranton is deeply saddened to share the passing of Mr. Prati Man Karki, a beloved member of our community.
Mr. Karki was born on February 21, 1938, in Chhage, Chirang, Bhutan, to the late Prasad Karki and Mon Maya Karki. Later, he moved with his family to Danapaani, Gelephu, Bhutan, where he continued to build a life rooted in love, kindness, and perseverance.
Due to political instability, he and his family were forced to leave Bhutan in 1990, seeking safety in Nepal. They resided in Beldangi-2, Sector A/4, Jhapa, where Mr. Karki spent nearly two decades in the refugee camp before being resettled in the United States through the International Organization for Migration in 2010.
Since then, Mr. Karki made Scranton, Pennsylvania, his home, residing at 2254 S Webster Ave, where he took his last breath surrounded by his beloved family.
He was the devoted husband of Mrs. Pabitra Karki and is survived by four sons, one daughter, and many grandchildren who cherish his memory deeply. Mr. Karki will always be remembered as an inspiring father, a gentle soul, and a source of wisdom and motivation to all who knew him.
The Bhutanese Community of Scranton extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. We kindly invite friends, relatives, and community members to join us in paying final respects and celebrating the life of our dear late Prati Man Karki.
