Investing in the next generation means giving young people opportunities to learn, lead, and experience what’s possible.

Through the Executive Leadership Academy, students complete 25 hours of leadership training, collaborate on team projects, and gain hands-on experience solving real-world business challenges.

This is the kind of opportunity Valley Guardians is proud to champion, connecting Arizona youth with experiences that build confidence, leadership skills, and a stronger vision for their future.

Because changing lives isn’t only about meeting needs today. It’s about helping young people build what comes next.

The first year, he wasn’t sure he could finish his board. Today, he’s building a future. 🛹🔧

What started with one skateboard became something much bigger.

He came back to serve on the hospitality team, welcoming new participants and becoming the kind of support he once needed himself. Then came another milestone: earning his plumbing certification and receiving a trade scholarship to take the next step toward a career in the trades.

That is what long term impact looks like.

Progress is not always a straight line. Sometimes it takes a program that keeps the door open, mentors who keep believing, and a community willing to keep showing up.

Through the Swappow+ Professional Development Program, the VG Trade School Scholarship, and Valley Guardians’ scholarship support at EVIT, young people are gaining more than skills. They are gaining pathways to independence, purpose, and a future they can build for themselves.

And when you multiply stories like this across 33 participants, the impact becomes impossible to ignore.

33 enrolled. 33 finished. Every single one crossed the finish line. 🛹

In a completely voluntary 12 week program, 33 young people impacted by foster care showed what can happen when opportunity, mentorship, and belief come together.

They did more than build and brand their own skateboards. They gained hands on experience in design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales while building confidence in what could come next.

And the impact continues:

✨ 33 of 33 completed the program
✨ 21 took their next step toward a job, trade program, or campus tour
✨ 13 returned as facilitators to help the next group
✨ 9 became paid interns

As the Title Sponsor of the Swappow+ Professional Development Program, Valley Guardians is proud to help create opportunities that lead somewhere.

Because when young people are given the tools, support, and a real chance to succeed, they do more than rise to the occasion. They come back and help others rise, too.

🎓 Internship Presentation Day! Huge congratulations to Jennifer Blanco, who just wrapped up her internship with Capital Fund I and absolutely crushed her final presentation! 👏

Jennifer came to us through a referral from LSA and spent her internship learning the ins and outs of private money lending at Capital Fund I, a licensed mortgage bank led by VG Board Member Noah Brocious that specializes in short-term loans for real estate investors, builders, and developers.

This is what Valley Guardians is all about — connecting driven young people with real-world mentorship and career opportunities through our board and business community. Jennifer, we're so proud of you. This is just the beginning! 💚

Many of the students in our Executive Leadership Program and Scholarship track are first-generation college students. Through education, mentoring, and college scholarships, we don't just open a door for one young person. We open it for everyone who comes after them.
