We’re excited to announce that Storybook Spooktacular is back this year on October 25th from 1–4 PM at the Kevin Dukes Career & Innovation Academy in Hollywood.

Last year’s event was a huge success, and we’re working to make this year even bigger and better. We hope to see hundreds of kids and families from across Jackson County join us for an afternoon of reading, fun, and community connection.

A huge thank you to Daniel Truelove Jr. for joining us and sharing his insights with our educators, law enforcement officers, social workers, and all the professionals who work with children. Daniel’s presentation on “Becoming the One Trusted Adult” was both inspiring and practical, reminding us of the vital role mental health plays in our own lives as we support young people. His message—that taking care of ourselves is just as crucial as caring for the youth we work with—resonated deeply with everyone who attended.

We’re also incredibly grateful for Daniel’s generous donation of books for our Storybook Spooktacular, which helped make the day even more special for the children who attended. Thank you, Daniel, for your support and for making a meaningful impact in our community! 💙

What an amazing day!

Our Storybook Spooktacular was a huge success, and we are beyond grateful for the outpouring of support from our community! Over 1,500 people joined us for a day filled with fun, learning, and connection. We gave out more than 1,100 books to children, over 220 board games to families, and nearly 550 free Kona Ice treats to kids. Our 20+ resource agencies also had a fantastic time sharing valuable information and treats with attendees.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, supported, and helped plan this event. We couldn’t have done it without the dedication of each and every one of you. Jackson County truly came together to make this an unforgettable day, and we’re already excited to start planning future events for our community!

A special thanks to all of the vendors and resource agencies who came out, set up tents, and engaged with families about the resources available here in Jackson County. Your dedication to supporting and empowering our community shines through, and we’re so grateful for the treats and information you shared.
