Last Friday was Safety Day with all the 3rd graders in the Jackson County School system.
It was a fun and educational day teaching farm equipment safety.
Mr. Adrian demonstrated the correct and safe way to operate a bush hog.
To engage with students on how quick you can get injured while operating farm equipment, Mr. Adrain had a yard stick that he held up and dropped as a student would try and catch it was to see their reaction time. On the yard stick it showed at what point you could get injured.
It was great to see the involvement and interest among these young farmers!

The Jackson County Young Farmers is hosting their annual Youth Doe Hunt on November 15th and November 16th!
Bring your youth and their field dressed doe to the Alfa Building on Saturday the 15th from 3:00pm-8:00pm or Sunday the 16th from 3:00pm-7:00pm to be entered in the contest!

-First place was Peyton Gifford with 92 lbs
-Second place was Michael McBride with 81 lbs
-Third place was Ridge Bearden with 77 lbs
-Raffle drawing winner was Bennie Miller

Farming is an integral part of our communities. Farmers fly under the radar and are rarely given the appreciation they deserve. This training will better equip us to serve our farmers in the event of an emergency involving grain bins. It’s the least we can do for those who do so much.

Join us on 7/9/2024 at 6 PM. Registration will be on sight and food will be provided. We would like to have a rough estimate of attendees by 7/7/2024. Please call/text Cpt. Ballard (256-663-0818) with your numbers. Looking forward to seeing you there.
