This is the reason our banquet is held every year at the same time. We choose this week to remember not only the fallen officers of Scott County, but of all fallen officers around the nation. 💙🖤
There have been several officer’s killed in the line of duty in 2026 already, and even more injured.
Please check out your local sheriff’s office’s and police departments for their events happening throughout this week, and continue to pray for those who have given their lives for others, and for the continued safety of those who put on a uniform every day and go to work. We appreciate those thoughts more than you will ever understand. 💙🖤
It's National Police Week
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week it falls in as National Police Week - a time to honor law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
This year, Peace Officers Memorial Day is Friday, May 15, 2026, and National Police Week runs from May 10-16. As we observe this week, we reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives protecting others. Each year, hundreds of names are added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC, and honored during the Candlelight Vigil - taking place this year on Wednesday, May 13th.
These fallen heroes put the safety of others above their own, embodying true service and sacrifice. Their names and legacies live on in the memorial - and in our hearts.
As we honor their memory, we also thank the Scott County community for your continued support. It is a privilege to serve you.
