Schnitzelburg Area Community Council - SACC

Schnitzelburg Area Community Council - SACC We invite you to explore, connect, and build with us. Schnitzelburg has a rich German-American heritage. Our local landmarks include Manual Stadium, St.

Since 1977, the SACC has been a volunteer led organization committed to the betterment of Schnitzelburg’s present and future, while upholding its cherished past. Schnitzelburg is a triangular area that is formed by street boundaries that include Goss Avenue, Clarks Lane, and South Shelby Street. Schnitzelburg was traditionally defined by the loop of the old Portland-Shelby bus, and by a mule drawn

car that made the same loop generations before. When the original German settlers in Louisville were joined by a great influx of immigrants from Germany in the 1850's and 60's, the older Butchertown and Phoenix Hill Neighborhoods did not have enough space, so many newcomers and the younger generations of the earlier settlers moved 'Out Shelby' into the subdivisions of Colonel Arthur Campbell's land, what is now Germantown. The Schnitzelburg section grew rapidly after St Elizabeth Parish was founded in 1905. Schnitzelburg is well-known for its shotgun houses and bungalows, as well as it's bevy of local restaurants and bars. Elizabeth Church, Kosair Charities, and the Germantown Mill Lofts (formerly the Louisville Textile Mill). The neighborhood is served by the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council (SACC).

🍋 Schnitzelburg, you showed out! 🍋

From first swings to championship hits, the 56th Annual World Championship Dainty Competition was another unforgettable day in the heart of Schnitzelburg!

Thank you to every player, volunteer, sponsor, and spectator who helped keep this one-of-a-kind neighborhood tradition alive. Whether you were cheering from the sidelines, reconnecting with old friends, or experiencing Dainty for the very first time, you made this year’s championship one to remember.

Congratulations to all of this year’s competitors and our champions! Here’s a look back at some of our favorite moments from an incredible day celebrating community, tradition, and a game you won’t find anywhere else.

Until next year! We’re already counting down the days!

We had the best time at the Dainty Fest Pregame Carnival and FUNdraiser yesterday. Thanks to everyone that donated a cake, bought some merch, or brought the good vibes to Hickory Street.

Let’s do it all again tomorrow? For George, for Schnitzelburg, for Dainty!

Shout out to Meme-Tech Screen Printing for helping print our special SACC Board Member shirts! Throughout Dainty Fest, you’ll see our board members wearing these shirts! The Schnitzelburg neighborhood is served by 18 hard-working volunteer members of the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council. Every board member volunteers their time, not only at Dainty Fest, but throughout their year-long term.

SACC holds neighborhood meetings, carries out capital projects, organizes community events, and acts as a liaison between residents and Louisville Metro Government. We plan, promote and host nearly 30 free events every year thanks to the support of our neighbors (like you!). Our traditions are deeply rooted and our future is ever-evolving.

Board members are elected at the November general meeting and serve a one year term. Board members are required to attend monthly board meetings and are expected to meet various volunteer requirements.

Interested neighbors and supporters from neighboring areas are invited to participate. If you are interested in joining the board, please chat with us at our booth during Dainty Fest or stop by our next neighborhood meeting in August!
