Thank you, Senator Pete Harckham!

I’m proud to announce that my “Students for Solar Act” has been signed into law. This new law will help school districts invest in solar energy, cutting emissions while saving taxpayers money year after year. Thank you to Assemblywoman Judy Griffin for her partnership in the Assembly, Governor Kathy Hochul for signing the bill, and especially Students for Climate Action whose hard work helped make this initiative possible.

After 9️⃣ years, we are proud to finally announce that THE STUDENTS FOR SOLAR ACT IS NOW LAW! 🚨☀️✅

Thank you to Governor Kathy Hochul, Senator Pete Harckham, and Assemblywoman Judy Griffin for your tireless advocacy and leadership. But most importantly, thank you to the hundreds of S4CA activists (and amazing Program Coordinators) over the past 10 years who stepped up. Whether it was sending an email, making a phone call, visiting a legislative office, or traveling all the way to Albany – your hard work, dedication, and perseverance got us to this moment. Thank you. We did it!

A big thank you to our partner organizations for your continued support! From Citizens Campaign for the Environment to New York League of Conservation Voters to NYSUT - A Union of Professionals to New York Solar Energy Industries Association and beyond – thank you. As a small and relatively young nonprofit, we couldn’t have done this without your guidance!

We are excited to continue this important work by supporting bills in the next legislative session that make renewable energy even more affordable and accessible for schools and communities across Long Island! 🌎🥳⚡️✊🏼
