The Rashaad Spann Foundation

The Rashaad Spann Foundation RSF believe that by sharing common values and skills, such as basketball and education, we can increase the opportunity of each individual across Savannah

Rashaad Jamal Spann was born on July 21, 1993 in Savannah, Ga. He was raised in the Woodville Community. He is the oldest of three children to Shanell Bryan and the oldest to Leonard Spann. His sibilings are Samantha Youmans, the Poet, Matthew Dillard III, Stanka, and Lennox Spann. As a child he enjoyed playing basketball, in which, his first team was the Carver Height Stallions. He also played wi

th the Amateur Athlete Union (AAU) team Hawks, a Robert W. Groves High School that reached the Class-AAAAA quarter finals his sophomore year, and transferred to Jenkins his junior year and helped the Warriors to an undefeated regular season. He was awarded the Region 3-AAAAA Player of the Year as a junior* and earned Savannah Morning News All-Greater Savannah first-team honors. Rashaad furthered his education at Clinton Junior College in South Carolina where he also played basketball until a knee injury he endured his 12th grade year temporarily overtook the game. On February 14, 2014, his life and physical body was laid to rest; however his soul will live on through those he loved......
We all know that he valued three things the most. His Family. His Friends (Bruddas and Bros). And BASKETBALL. So, the family and friends of Rashaad will strive to help at-risk kids though basketball by holding basketball camps, summer basketball tournaments, and other events. THE RASHAAD SPANN AWARD* will be given to the top high school junior basketball player in Savannah to assist with his transition to a higher education. This is a NONPROFIT organization ran by those dear to him. We are here to celebrate his life and to uphold his legacy.
