What an inspiring day it was at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) – Savannah Coastal Empire’s Girls Engineer It Day STEM Expo! 🤩

It was amazing to see the excitement on the faces of the next generation of engineers as they explored transportation design and engineering concepts.

Our interactive activity challenged students to design a better traffic plan, roadway, bus stops, roundabouts, crosswalk’s, airplane taxiway, or airport runway with safety and sustainability in mind. Using magnetic roads they could move however their creativity desired, along with planes, cars, buses, and stoplights, the students brought their ideas to life. They also received an activity book designed by our chapter, “Today You Will Be a Transportation Engineer”, to continue the learning and spark their interest in transportation engineering.

The activity was a huge hit with both students and parents! We were also excited to have two Kimley-Horn WTS Savannah Chapter members and female roadway designers engaging with the students and sharing their real life, everyday experiences in engineering. The Women in STEM stickers and motivational pencils were another big hit.

It was truly a successful event and another great opportunity for the WTS Savannah Chapter to continue making a name for ourselves while inspiring future engineers. ✨
