Fix by Five!!!

Leading veterinary organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the Association of Feline Practitioners, and the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, support spay/neuter before five months of age.

Why? Because kittens can become pregnant as early as four months old, and early spay/neuter is safe, effective, and helps prevent unwanted litters.

The recommendation is clear: Fix by Five 🐱

There is nothing better than knowing your work is truly helping those in the most need of help! We have been helping this Hardin County citizen get all of their cats fixed as they are extreme low-income and simply can’t afford to do so any other way. Thank you to the staff at The Animal Hospital - Dr Conaway - for working with this client and our program to make a difference in our community and in the lives of the person and the cats in their care. You are appreciated!

Avoid a litter that “you don’t know what to do with” by getting your dogs and cats fixed. Our spay/neuter program is a lifeline for animals in six counties - yes, SIX! Today I spent five hours approving over 90 applications - and giving information on programs in their areas to those who were outside of our program area. It’s a lot of time, but worth it to see people wanting to get their dogs and cats fixed.

Reminder - this program is for family-owned pets.

I completed the last 50 approvals for our low-cost applications this morning. If you think you submitted one, but can’t find the approval, search your email inbox/spam/promotions for an email from [email protected]!

Also, we approve dogs and cat surgeries in six counties in Tennessee and one in Mississippi - before submitting an application, please ensure you are within our program area. If you are not, find a Tennessee program/clinic at spaytennessee.org or for Mississippi check mssni.org for your area. We do not handle the Alcorn County/Corinth, MS area.

At Spay Tennessee, we are dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets through prevention. With spay/neuter assistance programs in almost all of our 95 counties, we strive to reduce shelter euthanasia by decreasing shelter intake.
