"Feed Your Mind" Initiative to Provide Free Lunches for Satanta Children This July
The Satanta Community Foundation and the Dudley Township Public Library are partnering to launch "Feed Your Mind," a continuing community initiative designed to nourish both body and mind during the final weeks of summer.
On Fridays, July 10, 17, 24, and 31, all school-aged children are invited to stop by the Dudley Township Library beginning at 11:00 a.m. to receive a free lunch to-go. Lunches will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available until they are gone.
The initiative is intended to help bridge the gap between the conclusion of the USD 507 Summer Food Program and the beginning of the new school year, ensuring that local children continue to have access to nutritious meals during the final weeks of summer.
While picking up lunch, families are encouraged to explore the Dudley Township Library by checking out books, participating in the library's Pizza Pages Reading Challenge, and discovering new stories together. The initiative celebrates the connection between good nutrition and lifelong learning, reminding children that healthy bodies and active minds go hand in hand.
In keeping with the Satanta Community Foundation's commitment to supporting local businesses, every item included in the lunches will be purchased locally from Satanta Grocery. Purchasing food and supplies from a hometown business allows the program to serve children while also investing charitable dollars back into the local economy.
"We know that children thrive when their basic needs are met," said Ryan Burrows, President of the Satanta Community Foundation. "Feed Your Mind reflects two of our community's greatest strengths: caring for our neighbors and investing in our children's futures. By providing nutritious meals and encouraging reading, we hope to help children finish the summer healthy, engaged, and ready for another successful school year."
"One of the greatest things a library can offer is a welcoming place where children can continue learning and growing throughout the summer," said Suzie Boschman, Director of the Dudley Township Library. "By inviting families to pick up a nutritious lunch, explore our collection, and participate in our programs, we hope every visit reminds children that the library is a place where both minds and communities are nourished."
The Satanta Community Foundation and the Dudley Township Library invite community members, businesses, civic organizations, and families to help sustain and expand the initiative through financial contributions. Every dollar donated will be used to purchase additional lunches, allowing more children to benefit from the program.
Those wishing to support Feed Your Mind may make a donation through the Satanta Community Foundation at the library. Contributions of any amount are welcome and will directly support the purchase of locally sourced food for the program.
The Satanta Community Foundation and the Dudley Township Library are grateful for the continued generosity of the Satanta community. Through partnerships like "Feed Your Mind," the organizations are investing in the health, education, and future of Satanta's children while strengthening the community one meal, one book, and one act of generosity at a time.
