🐺 WOLFDOGS: THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE MISUNDERSTOOD
🐺 LET'S TALK WOLFDOGS.
If you've followed Lady's Legacy for any amount of time, you probably know wolfdogs hold a pretty special place around here.
They're also one of the most misunderstood animals we work with.
They're romanticized. They're mislabeled. They're bred because they look cool. They're surrendered because someone wasn't prepared for what they brought home.
And somewhere between “they're basically wolves” and “they're just dogs” is a whole lot of information people actually need to know.
So we're starting a new series. 🐺💜
We're going to talk about the good, the bad, the weird, the misunderstood and the stuff people don't always want to hear.
What actually makes a wolfdog a wolfdog?
What's the difference between low, mid and high content?
Can they live with other animals?
Why are some terrified of strangers?
Why is containment SUCH a big deal?
Can you actually tell wolf content by looking at them?
And probably my favorite...
“But someone told me my husky is 87% wolf.” 😅
Some of these posts will be fun. Some will probably ruffle a few feathers. Some might challenge things you've been told about wolfdogs for years.
But the goal isn't to make wolfdogs sound scary, and it isn't to make them sound magical either.
It's to make people understand them.
Because loving an animal also means being honest about what that animal is, what they need, and whether we're actually capable of providing it.
We love wolfdogs. That's exactly why we're going to be honest about them—the amazing parts AND the difficult ones.
Because education doesn't just create better owners.
Education can prevent animals from needing rescue in the first place.
