"The sheriff said Travis Stanton, 33, used the databases to get the teenager's address and photos. He then visited her at a local restaurant where she worked at least nine times.

"Stanton was well aware of the legal requirements to access this database and the consequences for misuse," [Sheriff] Gualtieri said during a news conference Wednesday. "Running the plate of a 17-year-old girl who you are interested in is clearly inappropriate and clearly unlawful."

Gualtieri said law enforcement officials are required to enter a reason anytime the identification databases are accessed.

"Stanton lied and put in the verification code stating that he was quote verifying an identity," he said. "Now he was verifying an identity all right, but it was not for official reasons, and it was because he was interested in this 17-year-old high school student.""

Both men resigned from the sheriff's office after being arrested and charged with multiple felonies. "Running the plate of a 17-year-old girl who you are interested in is clearly inappropriate," Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said.

Trump stated during an August 2024 news conference at his New Jersey golf club that he would "immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One" and echoed similar remarks at multiple campaign rallies.

Two years later, prices are higher across the everyday expenses that working Americans need, from groceries to gasoline.

On Monday, approximately 500 people showed up to North Port City Hall to speak out against a proposed data center in the city. Across the state, Floridians of all backgrounds and beliefs are opposed to environment- and privacy-destroying data centers in our communities.

The final hearing will be on Monday the 21st. Please plan to attend and make your voice heard!

"The Supreme Court yesterday ruled that President Trump can proceed with the construction of his ballroom at the former East Wing of the White House without needing congressional approval. Chief Justice John Roberts and the court's three liberal justices dissented. The high court didn't address whether demolishing the East Wing and constructing the ballroom are legal, but said that the National Trust for Historic Preservation lacked standing to sue, as it likely hasn't suffered any concrete injury. The new ballroom is projected to cost taxpayers at least $300 million, even though Trump has said that taxpayers wouldn’t pay for it."

The ruling comes after months of back-and-forth between the Trump administration and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
