This week, the Southwest Florida Water Management District declared a Modified Phase III “Extreme” Water Shortage due to ongoing drought conditions, requiring all residents in the region to follow one-day-per-week watering restrictions with fewer watering hours beginning April 3.

City of Sarasota residents interested in taking home one of 200 FREE trees are invited to join us on Saturday, April 18, at The Bay Sarasota from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Attendees with 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 (𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐈𝐃 𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥) 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 can choose from 10 species of tree on a first-come, first-served basis:

• live oak
• orange geiger
• southern magnolia
• royal palm
• crape myrtle
• green buttonwood
• winged elm
• sycamore
• Hass avocado
• mango

In addition, be sure to visit the pavilion at The Nest to speak with a representative from the City’s Sustainability and Resilience program about this year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” At noon, Commissioner Ahearn-Koch will deliver Earth Day remarks highlighting key sustainability initiatives and the connection between the environment and our local economy.

City residents are invited to attend area-specific meetings this month to view and give feedback on draft neighborhood traffic calming maps.

Public meetings will be held in three areas (A, B, C) across the city to allow members of all Sarasota neighborhoods to engage in neighborhood-specific discussions, address
concerns, and learn how measures included in draft traffic calming maps may be implemented in their area.
