Our Mission is to provide a forum for professional development opportunities to support the values of SHRM at the local level. nd performance. Our Vision is to provide ongoing professional development, resources, networking, and support for our members and our community. Our Strategy is to Advance the HR Profession and Advance the HR Professional. Our History began in January 1963 when a small group of personnel professionals formed the Sarasota Personnel Association as a meeting ground for discussing issues related to personnel administration. In 2025, we rebranded from Sarasota-Manatee Human Resources Association (SHRA) to SHRM Sarasota. Today, SHRM Sarasota has over 300 HR professionals and student members from across Sarasota and Manatee counties. We are home to some of the area's most talented and dynamic HR Professionals.

🏆 Nominations Are Open!

Do you know an HR professional who's making a real impact? SHRM Sarasota is accepting nominations for our HR Professional of the Year Award, and we want to hear about the leaders shaping the future of HR in our community.

We're looking for an engaged SHRM Sarasota member who leads with excellence, drives meaningful change in their organization, and elevates the HR profession as a whole.

- Min. 3 years HR experience
- Demonstrated leadership & ethical excellence
- Completed impactful projects or initiatives
- Active SHRM Sarasota member (board members ineligible)

Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged!

The honoree will be celebrated at our Annual Evening Mixer in December and receive a commemorative trophy. 🎉

Join us for the second meeting of our Quarterly HR Book Club, a new learning opportunity designed to support professional growth, meaningful discussion, and SHRM recertification!

Each quarter, participants will read one book aligned with a SHRM BASK competency, creating space for practical learning and peer conversation. Our second quarter focuses on Ethical Practice, featuring:

Ethical Intelligence by Bruce Weinstein, PhD

SHRM offers a Read-for-Recertification program, allowing SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP credential holders to earn PDC's by submitting a brief essay connecting the book to a BASK competency. This book club supports that process while offering valuable peer learning.
