Guided kayak fishing excursions, which include adaptive kayaks and equipment as needed, give soldiers an opportunity to hang out with other fishermen, take control of their world from the helm of their kayak, and learn the ropes of kayak fishing, a skill that lasts a lifetime.

“Spend a day on the water with a group of soldiers, and you will understand the passion behind this program,” commented J

im Dolan, HOW national coordinator. “The injured soldiers are literally captains of their own kayaks – moving around on their own at their own pace, experiencing nature up close, and earning bragging rights for their catch for the day. Kayak fishing is therapeutic for anyone, but particularly for military personnel recovering from injuries and trauma. Our mission is to give these heroes a chance to enjoy a challenging outdoor sport that allows them to decompress from the stresses related to combat and from the physical and mental rigors of rehabilitation and join the kayak fishing band of brothers.”

Hey guys, I am needing some help with the chapter.
My girlfriend and I have busted are butts to get a new trailer, kayaks, and fishing equipment to get the chapter up and running again.
I really thought that we could do it by ourselves bit that being said we need a team of people to get this thing going.

Our chapter events are organized by dedicated volunteers at no cost to participants or their families. There is no prior experience or equipment required. Recurring activities provide participants with consistent access to healing support as well as involvement in a community of people with shared experiences.

Today is National Rosie the Riveter Day! American women played important roles during World War II, both at home and in uniform. Around 5 million civilian women served in the defense industry and elsewhere in the commercial sector during World War II.

Around 350,000 American women served in uniform, both at home and abroad, volunteering for the newly formed Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps – later renamed the Women’s Army Corps -- the Navy Women’s Reserve, the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve, the Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the Army Nurses Corps, and the Navy Nurse Corps.
