NAMI Sarasota and Manatee Counties is excited to partner with Raíces Art Therapy and Manatee Library to offer Mindful Meet Ups, a trauma informed and culturally grounded opportunity to connect, create, and support your well being through art.

These monthly gatherings offer a welcoming space to slow down, practice mindfulness, explore creativity, and connect with others in the community.

The Newtown Community Clean-Up took place on Aug. 22, and together we removed 24.25 tons of debris! That included 17.49 tons of garbage, 5.96 tons of yard waste, and 0.80 tons of tires and white goods. Thank you to everyone who helped keep our community clean!

Sarasota County has two programs opening Sept. 1: Purchase Assistance and Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation.

For first-time, low-income homebuyers in Sarasota County, the Purchase Assistance program offers forgivable loans of up to $75,000 to help with down payment, closing costs and gap assistance. Homebuyers must be working with a mortgage lender to be eligible.

For low-income Sarasota County homeowners ready to make necessary repairs, maintenance and accessibility modifications, the Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation program offers forgivable loans of up to $100,000. Purely aesthetic renovations are not eligible for this program.

Awards are given on a first-come, first-approved basis, so make sure you mark your calendar!
