One Block. One Year. Neighbors Helping Neighbors. 🏡

What could happen if your block spent a whole year working on small projects and big dreams, together?

For the past year, the Newtown Neighborhood Expert Team (NET) has been showing up: listening to neighbors, supporting local organizations, and hosting gatherings around what this community cares about. Every one of those relationships has been leading here.

Every block has its own story, and only the people who live there can write it. They even choose the name. SRQ Strong helps bring that story to life.

Here's how it works:

✅ A block says yes. At least 75% of homes agree to a H.O.P.E. Plan: Health, Opportunity, Place-Making, Engagement.
🤝 Neighbors meet monthly, one-on-one and as a block.
📞 SRQ Strong gets what the plan needs: phone calls, referrals, volunteers, materials.
🔄 The plan stays alive. Neighbors say what's working and what isn't, and it adjusts.
🎉 Growth gets celebrated together, and the story keeps going.

As a block paints, plants, learns, and builds strong habits together, it will take time, talent, and treasure from neighbors and local agencies alike.

💸💰 Money isn’t always the easiest thing to talk about. We all have our own stories with finance and oftentimes those stories are tangled up with trauma and misinformation.

But during our Banyan Conversation “The Body & The Balance Sheet,” everyone felt a little more comfortable opening up: how money has shaped their lives, where those beliefs came from, and how we grow a healthier relationship with it.

We played games, shared laughs, and healed our hearts (and our wallets!). Stay connected with SRQ Strong to catch our next community event!

🌅 AMAZING NEWS! Thanks to our incredible community and the generous support of the Barancik Foundation, we raised over $🔟K in donations to continue our work in SRQ! 🌳💪🏼

We recently celebrated 3️⃣0️⃣ years of our very own Helen Neal Igniting Inner Wisdom with SRQ Strong and none of it would be possible without our community’s support.

Helen is one of the founding members of our organization and has worked with hundreds of people across the Suncoast Region, providing trauma-informed care while bringing light, love, and powerful lessons to everyone she encounters.

To our community and to the Barancik Foundation: thank you for believing in this work and helping us carry it forward. We are so proud and honored to celebrate Helen’s impact alongside you.

We walked in heavy, we left light. ✨

Most of our participants came in carrying tension they didn’t even realize they were holding — and by the end, everyone was floating out the door.
