Happy Summer! As HSoSC enters into its summer hiatus, we encourage you to take a family outing to somewhere you’ve never been in Sarasota County, Florida, or the rest of the USA. Our office hours are limited in the summer, so if you’re coming to see our historic campus, call ahead to 941-364-9076. Have a grand season, and we’ll welcome you back in the fall! The HBNA Board of Directors has voted to reschedule our yearly HBNA Annual Membership Meeting until the second week of November. We will confirm the exact date in a follow up email next month.

This was done in order to guarantee a powerful speaker list after the summer break and to address expected hot topics during that time of the year.

***Please disregard any previous emails that referenced the weekend of May 2nd and 3rd as meeting dates***

And, don't forget to bookmark your calendars for our Annual Picnic on October 18th! More details to follow as the date approaches.

Hi Neighbors,

Spring is here, and with it comes one of our favorite traditions—our Annual HBNA Meeting! Join us on May 3rd at Pomelo Park for a chance to connect, celebrate our neighborhood, and help shape what comes next.

At the meeting, all dues-paying HBNA members will have the opportunity to vote for additional Board members—and we’d love for you to consider being part of the team.

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, now is the perfect time! Whether you’re interested in joining the Board or leading one of our dynamic committees, there are so many ways to contribute your ideas, energy, and talents. Take a look at the attached list of current officers, Board members, and committees—you might just find something that sparks your interest!

We’re always looking for neighbors who want to help keep HBNA the vibrant, welcoming, and engaged community we all enjoy. (Note: Board members must have lived in the neighborhood for at least 2 years.)

Curious or ready to jump in? Simply reply to this email or reach out to any current Board member—we’d love to talk with you.

Let’s keep the momentum going—your involvement is what makes this neighborhood truly special.

Looking forward to seeing you on May 3rd!

Sincerely,

your HBNA Board

Our neighborhoods are invited to join the City of Sarasota at upcoming neighborhood meetings to learn about the work completed to evaluate speeding across the city and review the proposed traffic calming strategies designed to support speed reduction.

The City is seeking your feedback on the Draft Neighborhood Traffic Calming Maps to ensure they accurately reflect your community’s needs. These draft maps identify streets experiencing speeding concerns and outline proposed solutions that, once implemented, will support lowering speeds toward a 20 mph environment on local roads. Because the maps are a working document, community input is essential and will directly inform updates.

Neighborhood residents are encouraged to share feedback on traffic calming solutions, potential additions or revisions, and new ideas. Attend your CCNA Area meeting, review your neighborhood’s draft map, and provide input verbally, in writing, or online. Multiple participation options are available to make your voice heard.
