NEW YORK — Three Anti-Hunting Bills Resurrected!

After no movement in nearly a year, the New York Legislature resurrected two bills that impact hunters and recreational shooters.

Assembly Bill 5728 and its companion bill, Senate Bill 5058, prohibit the use of traditional lead ammunition for hunting on all state-owned lands. AB 5728 passed the New York Assembly on March 30, and is now pending before the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee.

Senate Bill 6510 turns wildlife management control of southern New York over to county officials by allowing them to prohibit hunting during the special late season between December 26 and January 1. The bill passed the Senate on April 5 and is pending before the House Ways and Means Committee.
