She Can is based out of Santa Rosa, California, and was founded by Jenni Heskett, Becky Perkins, Pri Murphy, and Brittany Simpson. Recognizing the need for more services for teen parents in Sonoma County,we came together with the shared goal of empowering young mothers to achieve their dreams. She Can is currently in its initial stages of fundraising and plans to be operational by 2017.
SheCan is a nonprofit resource center for teen parents in Santa Rosa, California. SheCan is in its initial building stages. Right now, we are looking for funding to complete our 501(c)3 paperwork so that we can begin fundraising for our location and start offering services! SheCan will offer teen mothers support and referral services. The long term goal is to empower teen parents reach their personal and educational goals while strengthening their relationships with their children and families. SheCan will be offering programs focused on education and career planning, parenting and relationships, and independent living skills workshops. Our goal is to create a safe place for these teens to grow not only into young adults, but into the parents they want to be. Although teen birth rates have decreased nationwide, Santa Rosa has the highest rate of teen births in Sonoma County – three times the average of the county. We will work to empower these young women to succeed in providing for their children while not giving up on their own dreams, reminding them that SHE CAN be strong. And SHE CAN accomplish anything. The goal is to have SheCan up and running by the summer of 2017. Thank you for your support!
