☀️ Florida heat can become dangerous for dogs faster than many people realize.

A dog does not have to be left inside a hot car to overheat. Humid weather, intense exercise, limited shade and even a short midday walk can put your pup at risk.

Please save and share this guide so more local dog owners know what to look for. 🐾

Watch for signs such as:
• Excessive panting or drooling
• Red, pale or grayish gums
• Weakness, unusual tiredness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• A rapid heartbeat
• Collapse or seizures

If you think your dog may be overheating, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool water, begin cooling them gradually and contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately. Do not wait to see whether the symptoms improve.

🚨STATE PARKS DO NOT ALLOW DOGS AND ONLY RESIDENTS WITH A PERMIT CAN WALK THEIR DOGS ON THE BEACH DURING REMAIN HOURS 🚨

From peaceful walking trails and scenic coastal spots to patios where you can enjoy a meal with your pup nearby, this guide includes some of our favorite places to explore from Dune Allen to Inlet Beach.

A few important reminders before you go:

🤍 Walton County public beaches require a valid dog-beach permit.
🤍 Permitted dogs must remain leashed and may access the beach only from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
🤍 State-park rules may differ by location.
🤍 Please call restaurants ahead to confirm current hours and dog-friendly patio availability.
