The Gulf Coast Equine Response Team, has been busy the last 2 weeks. We would like to thank the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo for having us out. We would also like to thank the alvin rotary club, for letting us participate in the alvin frontier day parade and festival. Only 14 days, until the 2026 Galveston County Fair & Rodeo. THE GULF COAST EQUINE RESPONSE TEAM, could still use your help. We are looking for friendly volunteers, to help make the parking run smoothly. We could use your help, both weekends APRIL 17-18th & April 24-25th. Either on horseback or foot. If your not able to physically help, but would like to donate. You can get with us, or you can scan the qr code provided. Any amount will help with training and the care of our horses.

If you plain on riding this year, or want to help us out on foot. We are having a meeting on April 11th @ 1130am after fair parade. It will be located at jack brooks park ( fair ground side.) .

IF WANT TO BE MOUNTED
• Must have current negative coggins
• Must have proof of current EHV-1 booster
• Must have Horse Health check certificate
• Horse must be proper weight
• Horse must be solid & able to stand still
• well behaved in public, around vehicles, and other horses.
• Must have own vehicle & trailer
• all Horses and riders must be evaluated, before fair or work patrols. (do to liability) if you want to ride, you must bring horse to meeting on the 11th.)

The Gulf Coast Equine Response Team needs your help. The 2026 Galveston County Fair and Rodeo is approaching fast, 25 days and counting.

If you would like to join our team, or know of any one. Please share this with them.

We are needing help with parking at the 2026 Galveston County Fair and Rodeo. on April 17-18th and April 24-25th

We will be having a get together, and Pre-Fair meeting on Saturday march 28th at 130pm. It will be held at runge park. We will also be evaluating horses and riders, who want to help mounted.

The Gulf Coast Equine Response Team is currently looking for new members to join our team. We are a 501c3 organization Located in Galveston County, Texas

The Gulf Coast Equine Response Team was organization after hurricane Harvey. When we noticed the amount of live stock left. We help local, county, and state first responders when they are at need. We also help the community's along the Gulf Coast.

Some of the things we do are trail ride & escorts, County Fairs, search and rescue, parking details.

We are also a family oriented organization.

If you think you have what it takes, want to ride your horse more and need a reason.

Do you want to put a smile on a child's face?

Do you want to help the community, horses and livestock in a time of need?

The 2026 Galveston County Fair and Rodeo is approaching fast, We could use your help. 40 days and counting.

The Gulf Coast Equine Response Team, is a 501c3 organization. At this time we're looking for a few good men, and women to join our team. We are looking for volunteers to help this year, with parking at the Galveston County Fair & Rodeo. The dates are Friday and Saturday both weeks, April 17th-18th and April 24th-25th. This is the Gulf Coast Equine Response Team's, biggest fundraiser of the year. You can sign up to help or you can join, even if you don't have a horse.

Last weekend 3 of our members had the privilege of taking a 16hr, (MSAR) Mounted Search & Rescue class in Bandera, TX.

On Saturday We learned search patterns, lost person behavior, and search strategy.

On sunday we worked on team building & coordination. We did this by completing 4 hands-on, real-world scenarios in challenging terrain.

We would like to thank, Hill County mounted Search and rescue for hosting this training.

We would like to thank shild & saddles for teaching this class.

We would also like to thank twin Elm Guest Ranch & RV park for letting us use there arena and property for training.

Over the weekend, some of our members participated in the 77th annual poney express ride.
This event is put on by the Harris County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol. There where 16 teams this year, made up of multiple agencies along with rodeo houston grand entry committee ( out riders). This is the event that officially kicks off rodeo houston. The Taking of the houston rodeo invertation to the governor, asst governor, secretary of state, and many others. On Sunday morning we started the relay to Austin, which each team passes a baton to there partner every 1/2 mile along hwy 290. Along with being judged on there horsemanship, how they pass baton, load horses in trailer. This year our team was honored with taking 3rd place in realy. On monday morning we all lined up in Austin, and rode to the Capital to present invitation.

Here is some photos from this years ride. We would also like to thank, the Harris County Sheriff office mounted patrol, for once again letting us ride with them.
