Healing California provides free, quality dental, medical, and vision care to those in need in California.

Healing California provides dental and vision care at no charge to those in need across the state. We partner with Veteran Stand Downs and community health events to offer much needed care to those in need through the use of volunteer professionals and general volunteers.

💙 Volunteer Spotlight: A Mother. A Daughter. A Shared Mission.

We are proud to recognize two incredible members of our Healing California family. Volunteer Optometrist Dr. Emily Wenzler-Chapman and her mother Catherine Fines-Wenzler.

Since joining our volunteer team, Dr. Wenzler-Chapman has been a steady and committed presence at our free vision clinics. When recruiting licensed optometrists became increasingly difficult, she stepped up increasing her volunteer presence, serving as Lead Optometrist, and actively recruiting fellow professionals to strengthen our team. Because of her leadership, our patients kept receiving the high-quality care they deserved.

Through Dr. Wenzler-Chapman, Healing California gained another remarkable volunteer, her mother Catherine. From her very first clinic, Catherine brought warmth, patience, and genuine compassion to every patient interaction. She plays a vital role in vision pre-testing and has also been a generous donor, contributing toward much-needed vision equipment and supporting our fundraising efforts.

A daughter who leads by example. A mother who followed her heart. We are deeply honored to recognize them both.

Meet Kevin.
Earlier this year Kevin rode his e-bike 4 miles to reach our free vision clinic. No car. No insurance. Just determination to finally get the care he needed.
For years Kevin couldn't afford real glasses. He bought whatever he could find at the dollar store, pairs that never lasted and never really worked. Kevin needs bifocals, for reading up close and seeing in the distance. Until he found us, that wasn't something he could access.
That changed at our clinic.
