Veterans Helping Veterans

The Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division (VA&R) was established to provide service to Veterans in their claims to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and to protect the rights and privileges of all Veterans, their dependents and survivors. The VA&R provides the access to the care they need including providing health care benefits, PTSD treatment, employment and compensation to help in the transition from military life to civilian life. The American Legion Veterans Service Officers assist Veterans in initial filing of claims and provides support during appeals when necessary. The Veterans Service Officers also make sure that Veterans, Widows, and Orphans of Veterans receive the services and compensation they are entitled. CALVAR was established as an endowment fund auxiliary organization to the Department of California, American Legion. The use of funds accumulated by the Foundation will be used to provide supplemental funding for the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Division of the Department of California.

CALVAR receives no government funding or any other subsidy. The current funding is voluntarily donated by California American Legion Members, other Veterans and their family and friends. These donations are received by supporting several programs conducted by the Ways & Means Commission. 100% percent of the funds raised goes directly to the VA&R, there is no commingling of funds.

In order to supplement this funding, CALVAR, which is a California Charitable Corporation and tax exempt 501 (c)(3) corporation, whose purpose is to see and collect tax deductible donations that will be used exclusively to fund the American Legion VA&R. Again, one hundred percent of the money collected will be restricted for use by VA&R offices providing direct services to Veterans and their families. Your help with a contribution or a monthly recurring payment will greatly be appreciated and help sustain this program.

Thank You.
